York State Commissioner of Health has officially declared flu to be prevalent
in New York after surveillance reports confirmed that influenza is now
widespread across the state.
All Hospital personnel who have not
been vaccinated for the flu must now wear surgical masks in areas where
patients are typically present. Unvaccinated personnel will be required to wear
masks in the following areas
hospital buildings except as specified below.
through eighth floors in Wesley House.
and above in the the Medical Office Building (263 Seventh Avenue).
offsite clinics and physician offices where patients are seen.
Masks will not be required:
In the Ninth
In the MetroTech
where patients are not normally present, such as inside the kitchen and the laboratories.
offices not frequented by patients or visitors.
accompanying patients for speech therapy or who communicate by lip reading
Effective, Monday, February 15th:
Unvaccinated personnel who fail to comply with
the mask requirement will not be permitted to enter patient care areas and will
be subject to further discipline. Employees removed from duty for noncompliance
